Joseph Coupal - Sunday, July 28, 2019
Answer is Fitness yoga classes in Canton, MA

Hot yoga is one of the fastest growing workouts, but did you also know that it can help improve the health of your skin? After every hot yoga classes participants leave feeling re-energized from the inside and out. Part of the reason for this is thanks to the fresh and rejuvenated feel of the skin.

You may be wondering how sweating actually make one's skin feel sparkling and new since sweating a lot usually leaves our skin feeling salty and need of cleansing. Despite the salty feeling of sweat, it actually is great for the skin under the right circumstances.

Sweat works to cleanse the body through the larges detoxifying organ in our body, our skin.

The skin actually eliminates around 30% of the toxins within the body. The effects of hot yoga workout help to speed up that process.

When you sweat, the body releases toxins from your circulation. The blood vessels of the skin dilate, so that the blood flows more to the surface of the skin in an effort to cool your body. Due to the fact the circulation comes closer to the skin’s surface it allow impurities, dirt and toxins to release through the surface of the skin through the pores. With the sweat comes out water, urea, ammonia, sugar, salt, toxins, toxic acid heavy metals and more. From the heat, the pores open to easily release all of these impurities that would not have exited the body as easily without the effects of the hot yoga.

So where are all the toxins in your body coming from? Toxins come from all sorts of things. Some are harder to avoid than others. Toxins can be caused by stress, pollution, poor diet, drugs, alcohol and cigarette smoke. Basically, it is hard to avoid the build-up of toxins so we have to use exercise and a healthy diet to remove these impurities from the body. These impurities are bad for our long-term health leading to diseases like cancer, but they also have an aging effect on the skin!

The result is after every hot yoga the skin feels literally refreshed and soft due to it just being cleansed of all sorts of gross impurities that aren’t supposed to be in there anyways. Just try a hot yoga class to see the impact it has on your skin.

To enhance the effect of hot yoga on your skin, there are a few steps that you can follow that’ll make sure you are getting the best bang for you buck. Check it out:

  • Remove all of the makeup and dirt from you skin before class. When the pores open, it allows things to pass into the skin as well as out, so you don’t want to clog your pores during hot yoga with dirt that was on the skin beforehand.
  • Drink a lot of water. This will help the skin from shriveling up and getting dehydrated during the yoga class.
  • Take a shower a.s.a.p after class. All of the stuff you sweated out will seep back into the skin if it isn’t quickly removed.

So what are you waiting for? Go try out a hot yoga class in the name of your skin’s health! Contact Answer is Fitness today!

Answer is Fitness - Personal training program in Canton, MA

Personal training will help you transform your lifestyle and attain your desired weight and shape in no time. However, before you head for the gym, here are the five best fitness tips from our personal trainers here in Canton, MA:

  • Weight Loss Starts With A Good Hydration - Dehydration usually manifests as exhaustion. You won't be able to perform workouts at your full potential when you are feeling tired. Besides that, sometimes thirst will be mistakenly detected as hunger by the brain. We to easily give in to this random cravings which is a contradiction to what we are trying to pursue. Drinking a lot of water will quench your thirst and keep your cravings at bay.
  • Diet and Exercise Work Together - No matter how many reps you are able to make in a session, if you are not careful with your diet, you will never see that toned body. Eat a well-balanced diet that involves a whole lot of fruits and veggies, whole grains, dairy and lean meat.
  • Make changes one step at a time - Make smaller commitment at a time. Instant modification of routine, diet and lifestyle is usually a short lived moment. Make changes gradually, you are more closer to lifelong changes than doing every changes all in the same day.
  • The Right Time To Scale - Personal trainers recommend to weigh yourself once a week at the same day at the same time and in the same clothes.
  • Incorporate Some Strength Training - You need to gain more muscles to burn more calories. Doing cardio alone will lose you some muscles which can slow your metabolism. In order to maintain muscles you need to integrate at least one or two strength training exercises to your fitness regimen.

4 Skin Care Tips for Hot Yoga Enthusiasts

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, July 16, 2019
Answer is Fitness - Hot Yoga classes in Canton, MA

If you practice hot yoga, you know and love it for all the wonderful benefits. However, a small minority of hot yoga participants suffer dermatological side effects such as inflamed skin and breakouts. The increased temperature combined with an intense physical activity can lead to a buildup of oil in your pores that some people don’t extract well. This isn’t really anything unique to hot yoga, but some people just don’t “sweat well”. But there are things you can do to help out if in fact the act of sweating periodically causes some form of skin irritation.

Pre-Hot Yoga

1. Cleanse your face before class.

Come to class with a clean makeup-free face. We already know that our pores are opening up in a hot room, and with the added humidity, sweat pouring, and oil building up, a layer of makeup on top of all that can’t be good. This can be hard when you’re on the go, so keep a cleanser handy for a quick swipe before heading into class.

Specifically, try a no-rinse cleanser like micellar water to gently wipe away dirt and even waterproof makeup. Made with minerals and plant extracts, micellar water won’t strip the skin of natural oils necessary for hydration.

2. Keep your hair pulled back.

Oil from your hair can transfer to your face and back, leading to breakouts. Keep your hair pulled back to prevent it from sticking to your skin and causing acne. Try a bun, like a top knot, to fully protect from any hair-to-skin contact.

Remember to protect your hair too! Opting for metal-free hair ties will help prevent snagging and protect from breakage. Instead stock up on fabric hair ties for a looser but still stable hold.

Post-Hot Yoga

3. Wipe off with cool infused water.

Cleansing with a cool towel immediately after class will help to wash oil out of your pores before they close back up and seal that grime in. Your skin will already be sensitive and may be inflamed after class, so try to avoid harsh face wipes.

If you don’t have an infused towel, just wipe off with cool water and follow up with a re-hydrating face spritz. Specifically, we recommend an infusion with tea tree oil, which is known for its anti-acne and anti-fungal properties. Cucumber or rose are also great options to soothe skin delicately and naturally.

4. Change your clothes and shower asap.

When your clothes are soaking wet with sweat, your skin has no room or air to evaporate and cool off–leaving you with prolonged inflammation and leaving your pores exposed to sweat and oil. Showering with warm water as soon as possible is key to keeping your skin healthy.

If you don’t have access to shower right away, then remember to bring a change of clothes. Swapping for a fresh pair of clothes (sports-bra and underwear included) will prevent the skin from lingering in any bacteria accumulated in the sweaty workout clothes. Ladies, this is especially important for the undercarriage areas (if you know what I mean) to help prevent infections.

Keep your skin glowing by following these four quick beauty tips to prevent oil buildup and reduce inflammation on your skin. Making a few small habit changes to your yoga skin care regimen will help you look like you’re glowing in hot yoga, and not sweating!
