Some children take to sports naturally with little need for parental motivation. Others, well, not so much. But all children must learn and respect the importance of regular exercise. Supporting and encouraging children engage in sports and other physical activities at an early age is a good for the developing body and mind. Physical fitness must become a habit that they carry into adulthood. Consider enrolling them into our physical program for kids, a program that will get them off the couch and limit their investment in phones and electronic gaming. So how do we mentor fitness self-motivation within the physically inactive child?
Tell Them It Will Help Them Become Strong
Kids often like to show off what they are capable of. They tend to brag when they manage to lift a heavy object, telling us how strong they will become as they get older. Encourage them to exercise for it will help them build strong muscles. Point it out that through fun exercises they can become even stronger each day.
Introduce Fun Exercises Through Games and Play
Let them play ball or tug-of-war which are games that can enhance muscle strength. Sit-ups and push-ups are great workouts as well that kids can manage. They are for muscle toning and strength enhancement. Swimming, jogging, and even dancing are great aerobic workouts for kids to raise their heart rate and promote heart health. At the same time, improve their stamina.
Bring Them To Parks Or Even Fitness Centers
Kids love the outdoors. Let them run around, ride a bike or just simply let them play the swing set or jungle gyms will surely work up a sweat. This is a good opportunity also to let them get some fresh air.
Bringing them to local fitness gyms are a great idea too. Typically, kids are fascinated to adult stuff like fitness equipment. Letting them try some fitness tools and exercise together is a great way to draw their interest in physical fitness. In addition, it's a great chance to bond with them while you do your own fitness routine.
