Cardio Junkies – It’s Time to Add Strength Training to Your Fitness Plan

Answer is Fitness Foxboro, MA

When you make the choice to prioritize physical fitness, your choice is more about simply taking care of yourself. Your family and all those who love you celebrate your initiative and instantly become your biggest fans. Getting comfortable with a steady exercise routine is something to be proud of. Those new to fitness tend to solely focus on cardiovascular fitness. This is not necessarily a bad thing at all. There will come a time, however, to mature your fitness model and take on a new challenge, strength training.

At first you will feel intimidated if you do not know where to start but understanding the basics will help you feel confident in your refreshed fitness routine. Cardio is an important part of fitness but the benefits of combining strength and cardio training are enormous. Strength training will help build your muscles and your lean muscle is better at burning calories when the body is at rest which is important if you goal is to lose weight or maintain it. Doing this training will help strengthen your joints and bones, reduce injury, improve your muscular endurance and it will help you give your all during your other workouts. Basically, the strength training is using resistance to create work for your muscles. You will start on your body weight which is an effective way to strength train. Keep it simple and focus on equipment-free routines first. No matter what you do, the most important thing is to find something that challenges you.

Many people start fitness programs but they stop when they get bored because they do not enjoy it or results come too slowly. Start with simple goals and then progress to longer range goals. Remember to make your fitness goals realistic and achievable. It is just normal to get frustrated and give up if your goals are too ambitious. Aim to incorporate strength training exercises of all the major muscle groups into your fitness routine at least twice a week. With hard work and determination you will transform your body and mind into a total changed person stronger and healthier.
