Looking to torch calories, build endurance, and boost your metabolism—all in under an hour? High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on an indoor bike might just be your new favorite workout.
At Answer is Fitness in Foxboro, we’ve seen firsthand how HIIT cycling sessions can transform both body and mind. Whether you're spinning in one of our energetic group classes or riding solo with your favorite playlist, HIIT workouts are designed to push you—and your results—to the next level.
What Is HIIT Cycling?
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) involves short bursts of intense effort followed by brief recovery periods. On an indoor bike, that could look like:
- 30 seconds of all-out sprinting
- 90 seconds of active recovery (easy pedaling)
- Repeated for 15–30 minutes
This structure keeps your heart rate elevated and burns more calories both during and after your workout thanks to the “afterburn effect” (aka excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, or EPOC).
Why It’s Great for Fat Loss
Compared to steady-state cardio, HIIT has been shown to:
- Burn more calories in less time
- Improve cardiovascular fitness
- Preserve lean muscle while reducing fat
- Increase post-workout calorie burn for up to 24 hours
And best of all? It’s adaptable for all fitness levels. You control your resistance, speed, and intensity.
