Sound body, sound mind! It is one of the most important things you will do for your health if you have regular physical activity. Being physically active will improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to handle your daily activities. Make it fun and find activities that you enjoy then vary with your everyday routine to keep it interesting.
See your everyday activities as a good opportunity to be active. The first thing is to plan ahead. Creating a schedule and mapping out where you would like to exercise during your week is being proactive. Planning introduces accountability and will increase your motivation. Find time for some regular, vigorous exercise for extra health and fitness benefits. Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. If your free time is short, breaking up the exercise sessions into several smaller exercise periods is still progress. Another way is making exercise a social activity. Exercising with others provides an opportunity for increased social contact. Exercise is so beneficial that it blocks negative thoughts or distracts you from daily worries. And when exercise becomes a habit, you will feel better with more energy, a better mood, feel more relaxed and sleep better.

Just add amounts of physical activity to your weekly routine and it will have a profound effect on your mental and emotional health. Instead of obsessing over results, focus on consistency. While the improvements in mood and energy levels will happen quickly, the physical payoff will come in time.
