It's that time of the year again when our eating habits are less than stellar due to the holiday feasts and parties. On top of that, add in the hectic schedules, stress, and often less sleep and our metabolism gets out of whack too. When stress and overeating collide, most people can expect the impending weight gain to follow. If you are determined to protect your health and maintain your weight, here are some tips:
Plan it Out - Research indicates that what actually drives us to overeat is emotion. Although the holidays mean celebration and joy, there are other emotions that can also surface as a result of crazy holiday schedules and year end work deadlines. Instead of avoiding the buffet table, plan out your buffet attack. Set parameters and don't deprive yourself, just be smart and try to eat more of the healthy food picks too.
Say "No" to Food Pushers - Whether it's your mom, your aunt, or your friend, simply say no when they offer more. Be consistent and firm and politely decline.
Don't skip your fitness routine - It is more important than ever to maintain your workout routine when you are eating more indulgently. This will help you burn the extra calories from holiday indulging and it will also ease the stress that builds up during the holiday rush.
