One of the best things that you can do for your physical health is engaging in regular physical activity. Being physically active will improve brain health, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve the ability to do daily activities. Exercise helps people lose weight and lower the risk of some diseases. It helps to keep your body at a healthy weight.
As a rule, 30 minutes of moderate physical activity is normal. If you need to exercise more it means that you are aiming to lose weight, maintain weight loss or meet specific fitness goals. It is recommended to have 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity, but you do not have to do it all at once. It will be 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. You will spread your activity out during the week and break it up into smaller chunks of time. Even small amounts of physical activity are helpful. The focus here is being active for short periods of time throughout the day that will add up to providing health benefits. For any average person, trying to get in shape, the most important thing is not necessarily how much exercise you do, but the quality of that exercise. Whether you exercise often depends on many things, including how often you are able, your training goals and the intensity of the exercise you are doing. Overall, the most effective training program is the one that you maintain consistently over a long period of time.
Even a short brief bout of activity offers benefits. If you will not fit in one 30-minute walk during the day, try a few five-minute walks instead. Any activity is better than none at all. What is important is making regular physical activity part of your lifestyle. The benefit of physical activity makes it one of the most important things you will do for your health.
