Our last post sparked high interest because we stated what everyone is thinking. What can I do this year to not pack it on during the Holiday season? As the holiday season approaches, more and more people are taking all the advice on how to keep off holiday weight. A key to avoiding weight gain during the holidays is to stay out of the kitchen.
Dr. Betty Greer of the University of Tennessee says don't hang out where food is being prepared. You'll likely sample it.
Unfortunately, statistics show that most Americans will weigh one pound more on January 2 than they did on November 21.
Other tips include having a light snack before going to holiday parties so you won't eat as much, eating a variety of fruits and vegetables during the day and controlling your portions as you fill your plate at holiday meals.
Of course, maintaining your exercise regimens, staying active and doing a little extra always helps. During the holidays, your time is valuable, and life gets busier, so commit to going to the gym, even if you have to go earlier or later.
Also, there are lots of holiday activities, visiting holiday displays, spending time outdoors away from the cookies and limiting alcohol also will help you keep the weight off.
