It is wonderful and exciting to share the pain with the group in your class while you work at the barre. Normally the teacher will demonstrate the movement and provide encouragement and corrections for the students in order to get the most out of every move in every exercise. Everyone will be obliged to hold a portion of their exercises at the barre and on the yoga mat.
The low-impact barre workout is a total three-for-one package. It combines the movement of ballet, the strengthening of Pilates and the stretching of yoga. It will give you balance, that leaves you focusing on isometric strength exercises just like holding your body still while you contract a small and specific set of muscles. The movements you think are small but amazingly you will feel the burn. Barre is a super-energizing, whole-body workout that will build alignment, strengthen your core and tone your muscles. It will focus on strengthening your muscles through the chest and shoulders in barre practice which will tremendously improve your posture. Just a few sessions after, you will feel that you stand taller with a sense of elongation throughout your body.
Since the barre workout is influenced by both Pilates and yoga moves however it requires repetition at a higher tempo. In addition, doing the stretching combined with the target on posture will challenge your flexibility to the limit. Give yourself a couple of weeks and you will be one of the most graceful, swan-lake prima ballerinas at the barre. It is because the movements are easy to adapt for all levels as well as your flexibility increases.
