Hot yoga is a challenging workout considering that working out in heat adds to the physical challenge of the exercise. It might be difficult to tolerate the heat at first, but when you get the hang of it, and as your body gradually adjusts to the temperature, you will appreciate the effect. Overtime, you will learn to love the workout especially when you start seeing and experiencing positive changes to your body.
When practicing hot yoga, there are few things to keep in mind in order to survive the heat and enjoy the workout more.
- Get Hydrated - Drink lots of water before and after class. Bring a water bottle with you and take a sip from time to time.
- Drink Beverages with electrolytes - Since you are sweating excessively, you lose certain amount of electrolytes. Replenish it by supplementing your water with electrolyte containing beverages.
- Dress Light - Choose light comfortable clothing to minimize heat and so you can move more freely while performing yoga poses.
- Rest and Breathe - If you feel tired and lightheaded in between sessions, take time to rest or breathe. Don't overdo it and let your body adjust to the heat and exercise.
