Belly fat is the most stubborn and most difficult to shed. Especially as you age, you may notice that your upper body, arms and chest shrink first but you may not see improvements in your belly. The stomach area has a substantial amount of fat cells with more alpha-receptors. These are not easy to activate and hinder lipolysis. Lipolysis is the mechanism of the body that releases energy from fat stores going to the blood.
The only way to flatten your tummy is to reduce your overall body fat. Here are few things you can do to lose weight fast and strengthen your abs faster:
- Training in a Fasted State - Do your workout before breakfast when your insulin has returned to its baseline level. An elevated insulin level can delay lipolysis. Also, the fat burning ability of your body tends to speed up when you have fasted for more than 6 hours.
- High Intensity Interval Training - Many studies have proven that high intensity cardio, in shorter periods, is more effective than extended cardio times. You also tend to preserve your muscles and strength when you perform cardio exercises for a shorter time.
- Weight Lifting - This is an effective way to lose fat by building more muscles. Muscles burn more calories than fat, even at rest.
