Increasing your flexibility has a ton of benefits. When you work on your flexibility, you are not only working in your body but also working your mind. It blends in giving compassion and love towards what your body will and will not do, and patience. Everything happens when you work for it while being kind to your body and mind during the process.
As with any yoga practice, flow at your own pace. When you stretch your muscles, you release tension and tightness, which results in making your movement easier. And releasing tension, it will alleviate pressure and stress in areas like your neck, back, and shoulders that are tense muscles and are painful. In effect, it helps both your body and your mind feel more relaxed. Moreover, flexibility will boost blood flow, and help with muscle recovery. It will also help you avoid that post-workout stiffness. You are prepared for whatever challenges your muscles will be facing since your muscles are stronger and more flexible, which they become less susceptible to injuries. And you will notice, you will not slouch when your body feels tight and tense. Because releasing the tension will help you sit up straight and ease the strain on your muscles. Furthermore, with flexibility, you have a wider range of motion. It makes moving your joints much easier.
It is more important to feel the benefits of the poses than to push yourself to rush through them. Do not be conscious by letting yourself get caught up in how you will look, instead, focus on how the poses make your body feel. Be patient because there is no real timeline for how soon you will start seeing a more flexible you. The results will depend on a variety of factors including your age, how often you practice, and the intensity of your average yoga session.
